A striking frame carries this one — tight ribbed molding in gold with a black-striated finish along the outer edge, giving way to a smooth gilt inner border before the beveled glass takes over. The rectangular mirror plate shows a bit of age-related clouding and light surface marks consistent with an older mirror that’s been well used, not pristine, but nothing that detracts from its presence on a wall. Substantial in scale and formal in feel, it’s the kind of piece that anchors an entryway or dresser rather than disappearing into the background.
